Goodyer Meadows II, 2026
oil on board
20 x 20 cm
My latest painting is inspired by a view across the South Downs, a landscape that has become an increasingly important part of my painting practice. Living close to the Downs and regularly walking the same paths allows me to observe how dramatically the familiar landscape changes with the seasons, weather and light. I am increasingly interested in deciding what can be left out of the final composition, simplifying it to the essential elements.
I have become fascinated by the rapidly shifting cloud formations and the way they transform the landscape beneath them. Light moves across the hills and fields, colours change, and distant forms appear and disappear. Rather than simply recording a particular view, I am interested in capturing something of these fleeting moments through colour, shape, and paint.
Rose Autumn Exhibits New Landscape Painting in “My Happy Place” at Sage & Salt Studio
Rose will be showing a new landscape painting in the group exhibition “My Happy Place” at Sage and Salt Studio in Petersfield.
The show opens on 12th June 2026 and continues until 26th June 2026. Bringing together work by local artists, the theme invites each participant to explore their own interpretation of happiness.
Rose’s painting is inspired by the South Downs in Hampshire, where she regularly walks her dog. The work reflects the quiet pleasure of open skies, and the restorative beauty of the local landscape.
Visitors are warmly invited to view the exhibition and to nominate Rose’s painting for the People’s Choice Award.
All works are available for sale at £50 each.
