About Tutorials
Rose will review your recent work, research material, and sketchbooks before discussing your practice with you in depth. She will provide constructive feedback on research methods, technique, composition, use of materials, and subject matter.
She can also advise on further research, art theory, strategies for improvement, and setting goals, as well as offering creative ideas to help you develop your projects and move your work forward.
Professional Practice
As an exhibiting artist with more than twenty years of experience, Rose also offers Professional Practice Sessions for artists who want to develop their careers alongside their creative practice. Tutorials can explore presenting and promoting your work, approaching galleries and exhibitions, preparing applications and portfolios, writing about your work, developing your professional identity, and identifying suitable opportunities.
Training and Teaching Experience
Rose has a First-Class BA in Painting and an MA in Fine Art with Distinction, together with a certificate in teaching adults from Chichester College. Her Fine Art training encompassed Painting, Drawing, and Art History, giving her a broad understanding of both studio practice and the historical and theoretical contexts in which art is made.
Rose was formerly a visiting lecturer at the City & Guilds of London Art School, where she delivered Professional Practice seminars and individual tutorials to undergraduate and postgraduate Painting students. She has also given lectures and demonstrations in drawing and painting to local art groups and schools.
Her personalised approach to teaching is intended to build confidence, develop positive working habits, encourage independent problem-solving, and help artists fulfil their creative potential.
Professional Artist
Following her Fine Art training, Rose was represented by Long & Ryle Gallery in London and has more than twenty years of experience making and exhibiting art.
She was shortlisted for the Jerwood Drawing Prize and has been awarded the Drawing Prize at the National Open Art Competition, the Brian Sinfield Fine Arts Award at Pastels Today, and the Visitors’ Choice Award at the Brighton Festival Selectors’ Choice exhibition. Her drawings were also included in Manifest International Drawing Annual IV and Drawing Room II, a survey of contemporary drawing at the Royal West of England Academy. She was an elected Member of the Chelsea Arts Club in London.
Professional Communications Experience
With a 2:1 BA (Hons) in Business Administration, Rose also brings extensive professional communication experience to her teaching. She was formerly a Public Relations Manager, liaising at director level with blue-chip corporations in the financial and consumer sectors and writing press and publicity materials for national television and print media.
This experience can be particularly valuable to artists seeking support with the professional presentation, communication, and promotion of their work.
